SCI… 6…-A… - For turning purposes, the inserts are equipped with an open chip deflector to provide chip control when machining steel alloys and soft materials. The maximum depth of cut is 3.8 mm (.15”) and two rake angle options are available - with 8° for steel and with 16° for non-ferrous materials.
SCI… 6…-B… - Back turning insert for longitudinal and profiling operations on steel and stainless steel. The rake face is equipped with a chip deflector with a positive rake angle for optimal chip control. The maximum depth of cut is 3 mm (.118”) and the frontal approach angle is 12°.
SCI… 6…-E… - Back turning insert for longitudinal and profiling operations on nonferrous materials (such as copper, bronze) has a flat rake face with a high positive rake angle as required for chip flow of nonferrous materials.
SCI… 6…-MT… - Inserts for left- and right-hand threading applications. The standard inserts are available in metric 60° thread (MT) only.
SCI… 6…-…R/L… - Inserts for parting, with a frontal approach angle of 16° and a deep chip deflector (7° rake angle) for good chip control.
SCI… 6…-…N… - Inserts for grooving applications, the inserts are offered with a special rib-type chip deflector to provide good chip flow in shallow grooving.
Carbide Grade: All inserts are available in the IC1008 grade with TiAlN and TiN PVD coated layers for excellent performance and tool life. The substrate is ISCAR's IC08 grade, which is a submicron grade with high toughness and high hardness which is ideal for the very small SWISSCUT inserts. The IC1008 grade is characterized by its excellent notch wear and built-up edge resistance.
Machining Conditions: For machining carbon and alloy steel, the IC1008 grade can be used for low to medium cutting speeds. The feeds are normally small to medium, depending on the insert geometry, machining conditions and the required surface quality.
The IC1008 grade can be successfully used for machining heat-resistant alloys, austenitic stainless steels, hardened steel and for interrupted cut and other unfavorable conditions.
The SWISSCUT system is a part of ISCAR's tools for Swiss-type and small lathes. The unique rigid tool design with small insert overhang provides excellent economical results especially for finishing and precision machining of small parts. The new SWISSCUT system can replace many brazed tools and holders with indexable inserts.
The SWISSCUT provides a good solution to practically any miniature part application.
