Tailor-Made XNUW V-Lock Inserts
Large-Width Profiling Applications with Tailor-Made XNUW V-Lock Inserts from ISCAR
Profiling in widths from 13 mm up to 36 mm (.51 to 1.42") can be efficiently accomplished with a new line of custom, Tailor-Made inserts from ISCAR. These inserts, triangular in shape, are designated XNUW. They are generally used to cut a complete profile with a single cut in the plunging direction only. The size range is covered by five different V-shaped blanks that are ground to any desired shape. The blanks may also be ordered and ground by the customer. The upper rake face is flat for high accuracy and repeatability, especially in complicated geometries.
The inserts are preferred for use on dedicated machines and multi-spindles. They are screw-clamped and positioned on SXCNN holders with a torx screw. The holders are available with square shanks in sizes ranging from 12 to 32 mm (.500 to 1.250"). There is an inverse sloped, side clamping surface on each side of the insert to ensure secure clamping. This clamping surface also eliminates any lifting due to high tangential cutting forces.
Ground inserts may be ordered with CVD or PVD coatings or in uncoated grades. Blanks for self-grinding are available in three uncoated grades: IC20 [ISO K10-K20] for nonferrous materials and cast iron, IC50M [ISO P25] and IC54 [ISO P40] recommended for grooving on various steel alloys. Many applications for these Tailor-Made inserts may be found in the Automotive, Bearing, and Machine Tool industries.
