Helping Mill-Turn Center Do More
To support the “complete machining” movement on big-ticket CNC mill-turn centers, ISCAR has several multifunction tools set for ’08 rollout. Multifunction tools can help manufacturers realize the full potential of “grip it once/do it all” machining on complex parts, and avoid having to stop mid-cycle to change tools for lack of tool slots.
One new multifunction tool borrows the replaceable-tip concept, proven in drills, and applies it to stationary turning tools. This saves setup time and, in conjunction with built-in program STOPS, enables the machine to handle more operations despite the limited number of tool slots available on the toolhead. Another new multifunction tool, DMTT, performs rough or finish turning, drilling, milling and threading with a single tool in a single tool position. Yet another new ISCAR product is the DR multifunction tool that can sequentially handle face turning, OD turning, drilling and counterboring.
