Rail wheel longitudinal re-turning is performed with a 30 mm or 19 mm long and 4 mm corner radius tangentially clamped insert positioned with its long side against the machining direction.
LNMX inserts can carry large depth of cut and machining loads for roughing or semi-finishing re-turning, depending on the outer wheel condition.
Both insert sizes are mounted on standard right and left holders, mounted on interchangeable cartridges for a simultaneous set of rail wheels re-turning.
